Park your car on a level surface. Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes to allow the oil to settle down into the oil pan.
Open the hood of your car. Locate the oil dipstick, which is usually located near the front of the engine. It is marked with a yellow handle.
Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean. Reinsert the dipstick all the way into the oil fill tube.
Pull the dipstick out again and check the oil level. The oil should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick.
If the oil level is low, add oil to the engine. Use a funnel to add oil to the engine slowly. Check the oil level again and add more oil if necessary.
Reinsert the dipstick and close the hood of your car.
