1. Disconnect the battery. This will prevent any sparks from igniting the fuel vapor that may be present.
2. Raise the vehicle. You can do this by using a jack and jack stands or by driving the car up on ramps.
3. Locate the fuel tank. The fuel tank is located under the rear seat of the Beetle.
4. Disconnect the fuel line from the tank. There are two fuel lines that connect to the tank: a supply line and a return line. The supply line is the larger of the two lines and is located on the top of the tank. The return line is located on the bottom of the tank. To disconnect the fuel lines, use a flare nut wrench to loosen the nuts that hold the lines in place.
5. Remove the old gas line. Once the fuel lines are disconnected, you can remove the old gas line. To do this, simply pull the line out of the car.
6. Install the new gas line. Start by feeding the new gas line into the car through the hole in the floorboard. Then, connect the fuel line to the fuel filter. Next, connect the fuel line to the carburetor. To connect the fuel lines, use a flare nut wrench to tighten the nuts that hold the lines in place.
7. Lower the vehicle. Once the new gas line is installed, you can lower the vehicle.
8. Start the engine. Check for any leaks. If there are no leaks, you can drive the car.
