1. Park the car on level ground and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down completely.
2. Engage the parking brake to prevent the car from moving.
3. Locate the gearbox oil filler plug. It is usually located on the side of the gearbox, near the top. The plug is usually made of plastic or metal and has a hexagonal head.
4. Clean the area around the filler plug to prevent dirt and debris from entering the gearbox.
5. Use a wrench to loosen and remove the filler plug.
6. Insert a funnel into the filler hole.
7. Add the correct type and amount of gearbox oil to the gearbox. The type and amount of oil required will be specified in the vehicle's owner's manual.
8. Replace the filler plug and tighten it securely.
9. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will circulate the new oil throughout the gearbox.
10. Turn off the engine and check the oil level again. If the oil level is low, add more oil until it reaches the correct level.
Please note that topping up the gearbox oil is not a substitute for a regular gearbox oil change. Regular gearbox oil changes are necessary to maintain the health of your Peugeot 407 HDI SW's gearbox and to prevent costly repairs.
