How do you replace the tail light lens for a 2011 Chevy Malibu?

Replacing a tail light lens for a 2011 Chevy Malibu:

For safety, disconnect your vehicle battery's negative terminal before starting any work.

Tools needed:

- Phillips head screwdriver

- Flat-head screwdriver (Small or medium)

- (Optional) 8mm socket and ratchet

Instructions:

1. Open your trunk and remove the trunk liner.

2. Locate the tail light assembly that requires replacing the lens. It is held in place by two Phillips screws on the inner side of the trunk.

3. Remove the two screws using a Phillips head screwdriver and carefully remove the tail light assembly from the vehicle.

4. To remove the lens, use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the retaining clips loose while pulling gently on the lens to release it from the assembly.

5. (Optional) If you have an 8mm socket and ratchet, you may need to remove a screw or plastic fastener inside the trunk that holds the tail light assembly in place.

6. Once the lens is removed, clean the assembly and the new lens with a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol. If the retaining clips are damaged or broken, you may need to replace them.

7. Reinstall the lens by positioning it into the assembly and gently pressing it until the clips snap into place.

8. Reinstall the tail light assembly by aligning it with the holes and reinserting the Phillips screws.

9. Replace the trunk liner and reconnect your vehicle battery's negative terminal.

Test the tail light to ensure it works correctly before closing your trunk.

Remember to follow the instructions in the vehicle's service manual if they differ from these steps. For complex repairs or any safety-related concerns, it is recommended to consult with a qualified mechanic or automotive technician.
