- Replacement alternator
- 10mm socket and wrench
- 13mm socket and wrench
- 15mm socket and wrench
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Pliers
- Wire brush
Instructions:
1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Remove the serpentine belt.
3. Remove the upper alternator mounting bolt.
4. Remove the lower alternator mounting bolt.
5. Remove the alternator from the vehicle.
6. Clean the alternator mounting surfaces.
7. Install the new alternator.
8. Tighten the upper alternator mounting bolt.
9. Tighten the lower alternator mounting bolt.
10. Install the serpentine belt.
11. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
12. Start the vehicle and verify that the alternator is charging.
Tips:
- If the alternator is difficult to remove, you can use a pry bar to help loosen it.
- Be careful not to drop the alternator.
- Make sure that the serpentine belt is properly tensioned.
- If you are not comfortable performing this task, you can take your vehicle to a mechanic to have the alternator replaced.
