1. Purchase an OBD2 scan tool. You can find these online or at auto parts stores. Make sure the scan tool is compatible with your vehicle.
2. Connect the OBD2 scan tool to the vehicle's OBD2 port. The port is usually located under the dashboard.
3. Turn on the ignition. Do not start the engine.
4. Follow the prompts on the scan tool to retrieve and clear the fault codes. The exact steps may vary depending on the scan tool you're using.
5. Once the fault codes have been cleared, turn off the ignition and disconnect the scan tool.
6. Start the engine and check if the engine service light has been reset.
If you don't have access to a scan tool, you can also try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and then reconnecting it. This may reset the engine service light, but it's not as reliable as using a scan tool.
