Steps:
1. Park the truck on a level surface and let the engine cool down completely.
2. Locate the thermostat housing, which is usually situated near the top of the engine, towards the front. It is typically made of metal and has two or three bolts holding it in place.
3. Place a rag or shop towel underneath the thermostat housing to catch any coolant that may spill.
4. Use a 5/8-inch wrench to loosen and remove the bolts that hold the thermostat housing in place. Be careful not to drop the bolts into the engine compartment.
5. Gently pry off the thermostat housing using a screwdriver or pry bar. Be careful not to damage the gasket or any surrounding components.
6. Remove the old thermostat and gasket from the housing. Inspect the gasket for any signs of damage or deterioration and replace it if necessary.
7. Install the new thermostat in the housing, ensuring that it is properly seated and the gasket is in place.
8. Reinstall the thermostat housing and secure it with the bolts. Tighten the bolts snugly but do not overtighten.
9. Fill the radiator with a 50/50 mixture of coolant and water using a funnel.
10. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes until the thermostat opens and the coolant begins to circulate.
11. Check for any leaks around the thermostat housing or radiator. If any leaks are detected, tighten the bolts or replace the gasket as necessary.
12. Turn off the engine and let it cool down.
13. Recheck the coolant level and add more if necessary.
