How do you put on a air condition belt 1987 vw cabriolet?

How to Put on an Air Condition Belt on a 1987 VW Cabriolet

1. Park the car in a level spot and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down completely before beginning work.

2. Open the hood of the car. Locate the air condition belt, which is located on the passenger side of the engine. The air conditioning compressor is located on the front of the engine, and the belt runs around the compressor pulley and the crankshaft pulley.

3. Remove the drive belts. These belts run around the crankshaft pulley, water pump pulley and alternator or power steering pump pulley. First loosen the pivot bolt with a 13mm wrench. Then loosen the adjustment bolt until the belt is loose and remove it.

4. Slide the new air condition belt around the pulleys. Make sure that the belt is properly seated in the pulley grooves.

5. Adjust the tension of the air condition belt. The tension of the belt should be tight enough to prevent it from slipping, but not so tight that it damages the compressor or the belt. Use the adjustment bolt to tighten the belt until it is properly tensioned.

6. Reinstall the pivot and adjustment bolts. Tighten the pivot bolts with a 13mm wrench, and tighten the adjustment bolts until they are snug.

7. Start the engine and check the operation of the air conditioner. The air conditioner should now be blowing cold air.
