* Spark plug socket wrench
* Ratchet
* Spark plug gap tool
* New spark plugs (BMW part number 12120039563)
Instructions:
1. Open the hood of the car.
2. Remove the engine cover by unclipping the four plastic clips on the edges of the cover and lifting it off.
3. Locate the engine block. The engine block is located in the front of the car, and is the largest component in the engine bay.
4. There are 6 spark plugs. Find the spark plugs near the top of the engine block, towards the front of the car.
5. Remove the plastic cover over the spark plugs by removing the two bolts on the cover and lifting it off.
6. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the spark plugs by gently prying them off.
7. Use the spark plug socket wrench to remove the spark plugs.
8. Check the gap of the new spark plugs. The gap should be between 0.040-0.044 inches. If it is not, carefully use the spark plug gap tool to adjust the gap.
9. Reinstall the spark plugs and reconnect the electrical connectors.
11. Replace the plastic cover over the spark plugs.
12. Reinstall the engine cover.
