Tools and Materials Needed
* Socket wrench set
* Phillips head screwdriver
* Flat head screwdriver
* T25 Torx bit
* 1/4 inch drive ratchet
* 10mm socket
* 12mm socket
* 14mm socket
* Pliers
* New camshaft position sensor (OEM or equivalent)
Instructions
1. Let your engine reach operating temperature and then turn it off.
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid any electrical accidents.
3. Remove the engine cover by removing the T25 Torx screws that hold it in place.
4. Locate the camshaft position sensor on the right (passenger) side of the cylinder head near the front of the engine.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor by pressing down on the release button and pulling it straight up.
6. Use the 10mm socket and ratchet to remove the two bolts that hold the sensor in place.
7. Remove the old sensor by carefully wiggling it out of the cylinder head.
8. Install the new sensor by aligning it with the holes in the cylinder head.
9. Insert the two bolts that you removed in step 6 and tighten them securely with the 10mm socket and ratchet.
10. Reconnect the electrical connector to the sensor.
11. Replace the engine cover and reconnect the negative battery terminal.
12. Start the engine and verify that the camshaft position sensor is functioning properly by checking the engine codes.
