1. Turn off the engine and let it cool down.
2. Open the hood and locate the crankshaft pulley. It is located at the front of the engine, below the water pump.
3. Follow the serpentine belt from the crankshaft pulley to the alternator. The crankshaft position sensor is located on the bracket that mounts the alternator to the engine. It is a small, cylindrical component with two wires attached to it.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the crankshaft position sensor.
5. Use a wrench to loosen the two bolts that mount the sensor to the bracket.
6. Remove the sensor from the bracket.
7. Take the old sensor and a new one to the auto parts store and compare them to make sure they are the same.
8. Install the new sensor by reversing the steps above.
9. Start the engine and verify that it is running smoothly.
