* A flat-head screwdriver
* A Phillips-head screwdriver
* A 10mm wrench
1. Open the hood of your Beetle.
2. Locate the three screws that hold the headlight in place. Two of the screws are located on the top of the headlight, and the third screw is located on the bottom.
3. Use the flat-head screwdriver to loosen the three screws.
4. Once the screws are loose, use the Phillips-head screwdriver to remove them.
5. Carefully lift the headlight out of the housing.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the headlight.
7. To install the new headlight, simply reverse the steps above.
Here are some additional tips for removing the headlight on a 1971 Beetle:
* Be careful not to drop the headlight. It is made of glass and could break if it is dropped.
* If the screws are rusted, you may need to use a penetrating oil to loosen them.
* If the electrical connector is corroded, you may need to clean it before you can reconnect it.
