How do you change the oil pump on a 2000 Dodge Durango 2 wheel drive with 318?

Tools:

* Oil drain pan

* Funnel

* Wrench

* New oil filter

* New oil (check owner's manual for recommended type and amount)

* Rags

* Gloves

* Safety glasses

Instructions:

1. Park your Durango on a level surface and turn off the engine.

2. Engage the parking brake.

3. Crawl under the Durango and locate the oil drain plug. It is usually located on the bottom of the oil pan, near the front of the engine.

4. Place the oil drain pan under the oil drain plug.

5. Use the wrench to loosen the oil drain plug and allow the oil to drain into the pan.

6. Once all of the oil has drained out, replace the oil drain plug.

7. Locate the oil filter. It is usually located near the top of the engine.

8. Use the wrench to loosen the oil filter and remove it.

9. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.

10. Screw the new oil filter into place until it is snug.

11. Add new oil to the engine through the oil fill cap. Check the oil level with the dipstick and add more oil as necessary.

12. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks.

13. Turn off the engine and check the oil level again. Add more oil as necessary.

Tips:

* Be sure to use the correct type and amount of oil for your Durango.

* If you are not comfortable changing the oil yourself, you can take your Durango to a qualified mechanic.

* Changing the oil regularly will help to keep your Durango running smoothly and extend the life of the engine.
