1. Start with cylinder #1 and adjust the intake and exhaust valves.
2. Rotate the engine 180 degrees and adjust the intake and exhaust valves on cylinder #4.
3. Rotate the engine 180 degrees and adjust the intake and exhaust valves on cylinder #2.
4. Rotate the engine 180 degrees and adjust the intake and exhaust valves on cylinder #3.
When adjusting the valves, use a feeler gauge to check the gap between the valve stem and the rocker arm. The gap should be between 0.008 inch and 0.012 inch. If the gap is too small, the valve will not open properly and the engine will not perform well. If the gap is too large, the valve will open too far and could be damaged.
After you have adjusted the valves, be sure to tighten the locknuts on the rocker arms. This will prevent the valves from moving out of adjustment.
