NOTE:* The engine head bolts or cylinder head bolts do not have washers for the cylinder head-to-block joint. Be sure that the oil from drilling the counterbores is cleaned from the counterbore threads. Lubricate the bolt threads prior to installation of the cylinder head bolts or engine head bolts . After tightening, apply a drop of oil to the exposed threads.
