2001 Dodge Cummins turbo diesel water pump thermostat?

The water pump thermostat in a 2001 Dodge Cummins turbo diesel is located on the front of the engine block, to the driver's side of the alternator. It is a cylindrical device, with two coolant hoses connected to it. The upper hose connects to the radiator; the lower hose connects to the water pump. The thermostat housing has two terminals for electrical connection. The thermostat closes off circulation around the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature, then opens to allow coolant to circulate to the radiator. This helps the engine to warm up more quickly after a cold start. The thermostat is controlled by a temperature sensor that is located near the thermostat.
