When the engine is idling, the IAC valve opens to let in air and keep the engine running. If the valve fails or gets stuck, the engine may stall when the throttle is opened, causing the engine to stall when you hit the gas. Clean or replace the IAC valve if necessary.
* Vacuum Leak: Examine your vacuum hoses for leaks or tears. A leak can cause the air-fuel mixture to become lean and result in engine stalling. Inspect the hoses for damage or loose connections and replace them if needed.
* Fuel Pump Issue: Check your fuel pump. If it's not functioning correctly, it may not deliver enough fuel to the engine, causing it to stall when you accelerate. Test the fuel pressure to determine if the pump is operating correctly or needs replacement.
* Dirty Throttle Body: A dirty throttle body may cause the engine to stall when you press the gas pedal. Remove and clean it with appropriate throttle cleaner and ensure the butterfly valve is moving smoothly.
* Faulty Fuel Pressure Regulator: The fuel pressure regulator controls the amount of fuel delivered to the engine. If the regulator malfunctions and delivers excessive or insufficient fuel, it can cause stalling. Inspect and replace the fuel pressure regulator if necessary.
* Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor Issue: The MAF sensor measures the amount of air flowing into the engine to calculate the appropriate amount of fuel to inject. If the MAF sensor provides incorrect data, the engine's air-fuel mixture may be disturbed, leading to stalling when the gas pedal is pressed. Clean the sensor or consider replacing it if cleaning doesn't resolve the problem.
