- A ratchet and socket set
- A pry bar
- A new fan belt
Step 1: Disconnect the negative battery cable.
This is important to do to avoid any electrical shocks while you are working on the engine.
Step 2: Locate the fan belts.
The fan belts are located on the front of the engine, near the top. There are two belts, one that drives the water pump and one that drives the alternator.
Step 3: Loosen the fan belt tensioner.
The fan belt tensioner is a spring-loaded device that keeps the fan belts tight. To loosen it, you will need to use the pry bar to pry on it.
Step 4: Remove the old fan belts.
Once the fan belt tensioner is loose, you can remove the old fan belts by simply pulling them off of the pulleys.
Step 5: Install the new fan belts.
To install the new fan belts, simply place them around the pulleys and then tighten the fan belt tensioner.
Step 6: Reconnect the negative battery cable.
Once you have installed the new fan belts, you can reconnect the negative battery cable.
Step 7: Start the engine and check the fan belts.
Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Then, check the fan belts to make sure that they are tight and that they are not rubbing against anything.
If the fan belts are not tight, you can tighten them by using the fan belt tensioner. If the fan belts are rubbing against anything, you can adjust them by moving the power steering pump or the alternator.
