1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to avoid electrical accidents.
2. Raise the front of the vehicle using a jack and support it on jack stands placed on sturdy points. Engaging the parking brake for added safety is recommended.
3. Remove the serpentine belt by loosening and removing the tensioner bolt using the appropriate wrench or socket set.
4. Locate the crank pulley bolt in the center of the pulley. This bolt usually has a larger size compared to the others surrounding it.
5. Ensure that the vehicle is in gear (manual transmission) or Park (automatic transmission) and use a breaker bar or impact wrench with a suitable socket to loosen the crank pulley bolt. Be cautious as it may be very tight.
6. If you encounter difficulty in loosening the bolt due to engine rotation, you may need to use an engine holding tool or have a helper press the brake pedal firmly while the bolt is loosened.
7. Once the bolt is loose, you may need to use a puller tool or pry bar to remove the pulley from the crankshaft. Be careful not to damage the pulley or crankshaft while doing so.
8. Clean the pulley and the crankshaft surface to remove any debris.
9. Install a new pulley by carefully aligning it with the crankshaft keyway. Hand-tighten the pulley bolt to secure it temporarily.
10. Double-check that the vehicle is in gear or Park and use the appropriate tool to tighten the pulley bolt securely.
11. Reinstall the serpentine belt and adjust the tension as per the specified guidelines.
12. Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and safely remove them.
13. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
Start the engine to verify that the pulley and belt are functioning properly.
