- Remove the dust cover from the brake hub’s backplate.

- Remove the wheel cylinder’s rubber seals.

- Pull the brake shoes in the opposite direction of the backing plate.

- Unhook the brake shoe return springs from the wheel cylinder’s lever arms by pulling them upward.

- Pry the brake shoe spring hold-downs away from the shoe anchors and pull the shoes upward and out of the drum and wheel cylinder assembly.

- Slide the parking brake lever out of the backing plate.

- Using a screwdriver or pry bar, pry the parking brake lever arm back and forth while pulling outward to remove the arm.

- Pry out the starwheel or adjuster wheel in the upper and lower adjuster hole locations

- Remove the backing plate bolts and remove the backing plate.

- Pry out the drum hub’s retaining snap-ring using the screwdriver.

- Tap behind the hub with a ball peen hammer or rubber mallet to separate it from the spindle.

- Spray WD-40, PB Blaster, or a similar lubricant on the spindle if the hub is hard to get off
