If your engine is running hot what should you do?

If your engine is running hot, here are some steps you can take:

1. Pull over to the side of the road as soon as it is safe to do so. Do not continue driving as this could cause severe engine damage. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.

2. Open the hood to allow heat to escape. This will help the engine cool down more quickly.

3. Check the coolant level. If it is low, add more coolant. If you don't have any coolant, you can use water in an emergency. However, it is important to note that water is not a good substitute for coolant, so you should get your coolant level topped off as soon as possible.

4. Check for any leaks in the cooling system. Look for any hoses or pipes that are cracked or loose. If you find any leaks, you should get them repaired as soon as possible.

5. Let the engine cool down for at least 30 minutes before attempting to restart it. If the engine is still overheating, you should have it towed to a mechanic.
