Who invented the first brake in automobile?
The first automotive brakes were invented by German engineer Karl Benz. He invented brake linings in 1886 and fitted them to his Benz Patent-Motorwagen, widely regarded as the first automobile. These early brakes used a leather pad pressed against the wheel rim to slow the vehicle down. Further developments in braking systems have seen the introduction of disc brakes, drum brakes, and anti-lock braking systems (ABS).
