The coolant temperature sensor is located at the front of the cylinder block, just below the thermostat housing. It is a small, cylindrical-shaped sensor with one wire connected to it. The connector of the coolant temperature sending unit is located in the middle of the housing, close to the thermostat and above the water pump.
_To remove the coolant temperature sensor_
- Disconnect the wire connector from the sensor.
- Remove the single bolt that holds the temperature sensor to the cylinder block
- Remove the coolant temperature sensor from the engine block.
_To install the coolant temperature sensor_
- Apply a small amount of sealant to the threads of the new coolant temperature sensor.
- Screw the coolant temperature sensor into the engine block.
- Tighten the mounting bolt to 10 Nm (7 lb-ft).
- Connect the wire connector to the sensor.
