1. Gather the necessary materials and tools, including:
CVT gear oil (recommended by the manufacturer)
CVT gear oil filter (if applicable)
Oil drain pan
Funnel
Wrench
Rags
2. Prepare the vehicle:
Park the vehicle on a level surface.
Engage the parking brake.
Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
3. Locate the CVT gear oil drain plug and oil filter (if applicable):
Consult the owner's manual or service guide for the exact location of these components.
Typically, the drain plug is located on the bottom of the CVT housing, and the oil filter may be nearby.
4. Drain the old CVT gear oil:
Place the oil drain pan underneath the drain plug.
Use the wrench to loosen and remove the drain plug.
Allow the old gear oil to drain completely.
5. Replace the CVT gear oil filter (if applicable):
Remove the old filter by turning it counterclockwise.
Apply a thin coat of new gear oil to the gasket of the new filter.
Screw the new filter into place by hand, then tighten it with the wrench.
6. Reinstall the drain plug:
Once the old oil has drained completely, reinstall the drain plug and tighten it securely.
7. Add new CVT gear oil:
Use the funnel to add new gear oil to the CVT through the fill plug.
Add the amount of gear oil specified in the owner's manual or service guide.
8. Check the CVT gear oil level:
Use the dipstick to check the gear oil level.
The oil level should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick.
9. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes:
This will circulate the new gear oil throughout the CVT system.
10. Re-check the CVT gear oil level and adjust if necessary.
11. Dispose of the old gear oil and filter properly.
It's important to follow the manufacturer's recommendations and guidelines when changing CVT gear oil, as using the wrong type of oil or not changing it at the specified intervals can cause damage to the CVT system.
