1. Prepare your vehicle.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool.
- Engage the parking brake.
- Jack up your vehicle and place it on jack stands.
2. Disconnect the power steering pump.
- Use the socket wrench and ratchet to remove the bolts and disconnect the power steering lines from the power steering pump.
- Catch any fluid that spills out using the drain pan.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the power steering pump.
- Remove the bolts and disconnect the bracket from the power steering pump.
3. Remove the power steering pump.
- Use the socket wrench and ratchet to loosen the bolts securing the power steering pump.
- Remove the power steering pump from the vehicle.
4. Replace the O-ring.
- Inspect the O-ring for damage and replace it if necessary.
5. Install the new power steering pump.
- Place the new power steering pump into position.
- Insert the bolts into their corresponding holes and hand-tighten.
- Use the socket wrench and ratchet to fully tighten the bolts.
- Install the bracket and secure it with the bolts.
- Connect the electrical connector to the power steering pump.
6. Connect the power steering lines.
- Use the socket wrench and ratchet to connect the power steering lines to the power steering pump.
- Tighten the bolts to the proper tightness.
7. Fill the power steering fluid reservoir.
- Use the funnel to add power steering fluid to the reservoir until it reaches the "Full" mark.
8. Check for leaks.
- Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
- Inspect the power steering pump and lines for leaks.
- If any leaks are found, tighten the bolts or connections until the leak stops.
9. Test the power steering system.
- Turn the steering wheel from left to right to check for any unusual noises or resistance.
- If you notice any problems, stop driving and consult a professional mechanic.
