Locate the upper radiator hose, where it connects to the top of the engine.
Follow the upper radiator hose to the thermostat housing, which is located near the top of the engine. The thermostat is located inside the housing.
Removal & Installation
1. Disconnect the battery and drain the cooling system.
2. Remove the two bolts holding the thermostat housing to the engine.
3. Lift off the thermostat housing and gasket, exposing the thermostat.
4. Remove the thermostat from the housing.
5. Install the new thermostat in the housing, making sure that the gasket is properly seated.
6. Reinstall the thermostat housing and gasket, and tighten the bolts.
7. Refill the cooling system and connect the battery.
Tips
* When reinstalling the thermostat housing, be careful not to overtighten the bolts. This can damage the housing or the threads in the engine block.
* If you are replacing the thermostat, it is a good idea to also replace the gasket. This will help to ensure a proper seal and prevent leaks.
