The fuel pump on a 1995 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke is located inside the fuel tank. To access the fuel pump, you will need to remove the fuel tank skid plate and then remove the fuel tank.
Removing the Fuel Tank Skid Plate
1. Park your truck on a level surface.
2. Apply the parking brake.
3. Crawl under the truck and locate the fuel tank skid plate.
4. Remove the bolts that hold the fuel tank skid plate in place.
5. Lower the fuel tank skid plate.
Removing the Fuel Tank
1. Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel tank.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel tank.
3. Remove the bolts that hold the fuel tank in place.
4. Carefully lower the fuel tank from the truck.
Accessing the Fuel Pump
1. Once the fuel tank is removed, you will be able to see the fuel pump.
2. The fuel pump is held in place by a retaining ring.
3. Use a screwdriver to remove the retaining ring.
4. Lift the fuel pump out of the fuel tank.
Inspecting the Fuel Pump
1. Inspect the fuel pump for damage.
2. If the fuel pump is damaged, it will need to be replaced.
3. Clean the fuel pump and the fuel tank.
Reinstalling the Fuel Pump
1. Insert the fuel pump into the fuel tank.
2. Install the retaining ring.
3. Connect the electrical connector to the fuel tank.
4. Connect the fuel lines to the fuel tank.
5. Install the bolts that hold the fuel tank in place.
6. Raise the fuel tank into position.
7. Install the bolts that hold the fuel tank skid plate in place.
Start the truck and let it run for a few minutes to make sure that the fuel pump is working properly.
