1. Retrieve Jump-Starting Equipment
- Locate the following items:
- A set of jumper cables
- Another vehicle with a fully charged battery
2. Position the Vehicles
- Park the assisting vehicle close to the Sprinter, but do not allow the vehicles to touch.
- Set the parking brakes on both vehicles.
3. Connect Jumper Cables
- In the engine compartment of the Sprinter, locate the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals of the battery.
- On the assisting vehicle's battery, identify the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals.
- Connect one end of the positive (+) jumper cable to the positive (+) terminal of the Sprinter's battery.
- Connect the other end of the positive (+) jumper cable to the positive (+) terminal of the assisting vehicle's battery.
- Attach one end of the negative (-) jumper cable to the negative (-) terminal of the assisting vehicle's battery.
- Connect the other end of the negative (-) jumper cable to an unpainted metal surface on the Sprinter's engine block, ensuring it is not near the battery.
4. Start the Assisting Vehicle
- Start the engine of the assisting vehicle and allow it to run for a few minutes to charge the Sprinter's battery.
5. Attempt to Start the Sprinter
- Try to start the Sprinter's engine.
- If successful, let it run for a few minutes to recharge its battery.
6. Remove Jumper Cables
- With the Sprinter's engine still running, remove the jumper cables in the reverse order that they were connected.
7. Drive and Recharge
- Drive the Sprinter for at least 30 minutes to further charge its battery.
8. Safely Disconnect Cables
- Disconnect the jumper cables from both vehicles.
Note: If the Sprinter doesn't start after jump-starting or immediately shuts off after the assisting vehicle is disconnected, it may have a defective battery or other electrical issues. In this case, consider professional assistance from an automotive technician.
