The cylinder numbers on a 4.6 liter Ford modular V8 engine are arranged in a "V" formation, with three cylinders on each bank. The front of the engine is where the timing belt or chain is located, and the rear of the engine is where the flywheel and transmission are located.
Note: The cylinder numbering system for the 4.6 liter Ford modular V8 engine is different from the cylinder numbering system used on some other engines, such as the GM LS series engines.
