Disconnect the negative battery cable to avoid any electrical accidents while working on the fuel pump.
Step 2: Locate the Fuel Pump Assembly
The fuel pump assembly is located inside the fuel tank. Drop the spare tire. There is a plate that the spare tire sits on that also provides access to the fuel pump.
Step 3: Disconnect the Fuel Lines
Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel pump. There will be two lines, one for the supply and one for the return.
Step 4: Disconnect the Electrical Connector
Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
Step 5: Remove the Fuel Pump Assembly
Remove the bolts that hold the fuel pump assembly in place. The fuel pump assembly can now be removed from the tank.
Step 6: Install the New Fuel Pump
Install the new fuel pump by following the steps in reverse.
Step 7: Connect the Battery Cable
Reconnect the negative battery cable to restore power to the vehicle.
Step 8: Test the Fuel Pump
Turn on the ignition and check for any leaks. Start the engine and check that the fuel pump is working properly.
