What does fuel pressure regulator do?

A fuel pressure regulator (FPR) is a device that maintains a constant fuel pressure in an internal combustion engine. It does this by controlling the amount of fuel that is returned to the fuel tank.

The FPR is located on the fuel line between the fuel injector and the fuel tank. It consists of a diaphragm that is acted upon by fuel pressure and a spring. When the fuel pressure is too high, the diaphragm pushes against the spring and opens a valve, allowing fuel to return to the fuel tank. When the fuel pressure is too low, the spring pushes against the diaphragm and closes the valve, restricting the flow of fuel to the fuel injectors.

The FPR is a critical component of an internal combustion engine. It ensures that the fuel injectors receive a constant supply of fuel, which is necessary for the engine to run smoothly.

Common symptoms of a faulty FPR include:

* Poor engine performance

* Stalling

* Engine surging

* Difficulty starting the engine
