Tools and Materials Needed
- Replacement vacuum modulator
- Socket wrench set
- Flathead screwdriver
- Pliers
- Rags
- Safety goggles
Instructions:
1. Locate the Vacuum Modulator:
- Open the hood of your 1967 Mustang.
- Locate the vacuum modulator, which is a small cylindrical device attached to the transmission near the carburetor.
2. Disconnect the Vacuum Hose:
- Use the pliers to gently pinch and remove the vacuum hose that is connected to the vacuum modulator.
3. Remove the Modulator Bracket Bolts:
- Use the socket wrench to remove the bolts holding the vacuum modulator bracket to the transmission.
- Be careful not to drop the bolts into the engine compartment.
4. Remove the Vacuum Modulator:
- Once the bracket bolts are removed, use the flathead screwdriver to pry the vacuum modulator out of its bracket.
5. Install the New Modulator:
- Place the new vacuum modulator into the bracket.
- Reinsert the bracket bolts and tighten them securely with the socket wrench.
6. Reconnect the Vacuum Hose:
- Reattach the vacuum hose that you removed in step 2 to the new vacuum modulator.
- Make sure the hose is securely connected.
7. Clean Up:
- Use the rags to clean up any residual fluid that may have leaked during the process.
8. Test Drive:
- Take your Mustang for a test drive to make sure the new vacuum modulator is functioning properly.
