1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Locate the oil filter. It is located near the bottom of the engine, towards the front of the vehicle.
3. Place an oil pan under the filter to catch any oil that may spill.
4. Use an oil filter wrench to loosen the filter. Turn the filter counterclockwise until it is hand-loose.
5. Remove the filter by hand and discard it.
6. Clean the oil filter mounting surface.
7. Apply a thin coat of new engine oil to the gasket of the new filter.
8. Hand-tighten the new filter until it is snug.
9. Use the oil filter wrench to tighten the filter an additional 1/2 turn.
10. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for leaks.
11. Turn off the engine and check the oil level. Add oil if necessary.
