I have a 1996 Mitsubishi mirage. It starts fine but when it idles rough and has no power whats wrong?

Possible Causes:

- Faulty spark plugs: Worn or damaged spark plugs can cause the engine to misfire, resulting in rough idling and loss of power.

- Dirty fuel injectors: Clogged fuel injectors can prevent fuel from being delivered properly to the engine, leading to rough idling and reduced power.

- Vacuum leaks: A vacuum leak can cause the engine to run lean, resulting in rough idling and loss of power.

- Faulty oxygen sensor: A malfunctioning oxygen sensor can send incorrect signals to the engine control unit (ECU), causing the engine to run rich or lean, leading to rough idling and reduced power.

- Clogged catalytic converter: A clogged catalytic converter can restrict the flow of exhaust gases, causing the engine to run rough and lose power.

- Fuel pressure issues: Low fuel pressure can cause the engine to run lean and misfire, resulting in rough idling and loss of power.

- Faulty ignition coil: A faulty ignition coil can cause the engine to misfire, leading to rough idling and reduced power.

- Incorrect timing: If the engine timing is off, it can cause the engine to run rough and lose power.

Solution:

To resolve the issue, it's recommended to have the vehicle inspected by a professional mechanic. They will be able to pinpoint the exact cause of the rough idling and loss of power and perform the necessary repairs.
