The blower fan has started clicking and water is dripping from underneath the dash on 02 Subaru Outback - any ideas what you should do?

1. Turn off the car and let it cool down. If the blower fan is clicking, it is likely overheating and could cause a fire. Turn off the car and let it cool down completely before attempting to troubleshoot the problem.

2. Check the blower motor resistor. The blower motor resistor is a small, cylindrical component that regulates the speed of the blower fan. If the resistor is faulty, it can cause the fan to overheat and click. To check the resistor, locate it (usually near the blower motor) and inspect it for any signs of damage, such as burning or melting. If the resistor is damaged, it will need to be replaced.

3. Check the blower motor. If the blower motor resistor is not the cause of the problem, the blower motor itself may be faulty. To check the motor, remove it from the vehicle and inspect it for any signs of damage, such as worn brushes or a damaged armature. If the motor is damaged, it will need to be replaced.

4. Check the condensate drain. If water is dripping from underneath the dash, it is possible that the condensate drain is clogged. The condensate drain is a small tube that allows water to drain from the air conditioning evaporator. If the drain is clogged, water can back up and drip from the dash. To clear the drain, locate it (usually near the evaporator) and insert a small, flexible tube into the drain and gently push it through to clear any obstructions.

5. Have the car inspected by a mechanic. If you are not comfortable troubleshooting the problem yourself, or if the problem persists after you have tried the above steps, have the car inspected by a mechanic. The mechanic will be able to diagnose the problem and recommend the best course of action.
