A oil light indicator came on the dashboard. What does this mean?

Low Oil Pressure/Level: This is the most common reason for the oil light to come on. If the oil pressure is too low, it means there isn't enough oil circulating throughout the engine to properly lubricate the moving parts. This can cause serious engine damage if not addressed immediately. Check your oil level using the dipstick and add more oil if necessary. If the oil level is full, you should have your car inspected by a mechanic to determine the cause of the low oil pressure.

Oil Filter Clogged: A clogged oil filter can restrict oil flow to the engine, causing the oil light to come on. Replace the oil filter as soon as possible.

Oil Pump Failure: The oil pump is responsible for circulating oil throughout the engine. If the oil pump fails, the engine will not receive any oil and serious damage can quickly occur. This is a serious problem that requires immediate attention from a mechanic.

Engine Problems: In some cases, the oil light can come on due to a problem with the engine itself. For example, a worn out engine may have increased clearances that allow oil to leak out, resulting in low oil pressure. This type of problem will require major engine repairs.
