* A timing light
* A 10mm wrench
* A flat-head screwdriver
* A feeler gauge
1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Remove the distributor cap.
3. Locate the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley. It is a small notch or line.
4. Locate the timing mark on the cylinder head. It is a small notch or line on the front of the engine, just below the distributor.
5. Connect the timing light to the battery and to the number one spark plug wire.
6. Start the engine and let it idle.
7. Point the timing light at the timing marks. The timing light will flash and you will see the timing marks lined up.
8. If the timing marks are not lined up, loosen the distributor hold-down bolt with the 10mm wrench.
9. Turn the distributor body clockwise or counterclockwise until the timing marks line up.
10. Tighten the distributor hold-down bolt.
11. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
