For Mazda B4000 models from 1994 to 1997 with 2.3L engines:
1. Open the hood of your Mazda B4000.
2. Look at the front of your engine.
3. The starter is located on the driver's side (left) of the engine, near the bottom.
4. It is a cylindrical-shaped component with two electrical terminals connected to it.
For Mazda B4000 models from 1998 to 2009 with 3.0L engines:
1. Open the hood of your Mazda B4000.
2. Locate the engine cover on top of the engine.
3. Remove the engine cover.
4. The starter is located at the rear (back) of the engine on the passenger's side (right), below the intake manifold.
5. It is a cylindrical-shaped component with two electrical terminals connected to it.
In both cases, the starter is mounted on the engine block with bolts. To remove the starter, disconnect the electrical terminals from it. Then, remove the mounting bolts and carefully pry the starter out of its location. Be sure to have a replacement starter on hand before removing the old one. Installation is the reverse of removal.
