- The transmission is slipping
- The torque converter is not locking up
- The transmission fluid is low or dirty
- The transmission control solenoid is faulty
- The transmission control module (TCM) is faulty
- Check the transmission fluid level and condition
- Inspect the wiring and connections to the transmission control solenoid and TCM
- Have the transmission scanned for codes
- If the transmission is slipping, it will need to be overhauled or replaced
- If the torque converter is not locking up, it will need to be replaced
- If the transmission fluid is low or dirty, it will need to be changed
