11. Install the timing belt onto the crankshaft pulley.
12. Reapply tension to the timing belt by tightening the timing belt tensioner bolt. Refer to the vehicle's service manual for the specified tension.
Step 4: Checking Belt Alignment and Reassembly
13. Rotate the engine crankshaft clockwise through two complete revolutions. This checks for proper belt alignment and ensures no tooth skipping occurs.
14. Recheck the alignment marks on the camshaft gears and crankshaft pulley to ensure they still line up.
15. Reinstall the timing belt cover and the necessary bolts.
16. Reinstall the engine splash shield if removed earlier.
Step 5: Finishing Touches
17. Reconnect the negative battery terminal you disconnected at the beginning.
18. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Listen for any unusual noises or vibrations that might indicate improper belt alignment.
19. Turn off the engine and double-check all the bolts and components for proper installation and tightness.
