Possible causes:
- Faulty purge control solenoid valve
- Faulty purge valve
- Damaged or disconnected vacuum hoses
- Faulty fuel tank pressure sensor
- Faulty evaporative emission control system canister
- Faulty computer (PCM)
Solution:
1. Inspect the vacuum hoses for damage or disconnection. If any hoses are damaged, replace them.
2. Check the purge control solenoid valve for proper operation. If the valve is not working properly, replace it.
3. Check the purge valve for proper operation. If the valve is not working properly, replace it.
4. Check the fuel tank pressure sensor for proper operation. If the sensor is not working properly, replace it.
5. Check the evaporative emission control system canister for damage or leaks. If the canister is damaged, replace it.
6. If all of the above steps fail to resolve the problem, the computer (PCM) may need to be replaced.
Additional Notes:
- The purge control solenoid valve is located near the top of the engine, on the passenger side.
- The purge valve is located on the evaporative emission control system canister, which is located in the trunk of the vehicle.
- The fuel tank pressure sensor is located on the fuel tank, near the fuel pump.
- The evaporative emission control system canister is located in the trunk of the vehicle, on the passenger side.
- The computer (PCM) is located under the dashboard, on the driver's side.
