Tools and Materials:

- Replacement fuel pump

- Phillips screwdriver

- Flat-head screwdriver

- Pliers

- Wrench set

- Jack and jack stands

- Safety glasses

- Gloves

- Fuel line disconnect tool

- Fuel pressure gauge

- Shop rags

- New fuel filter (optional)

Procedure:

1. Safety Precautions:

- Disconnect the negative terminal of your vehicle's battery to avoid any electrical hazards.

- Wear safety glasses and gloves to protect yourself from fuel and fumes.

2. Locate the Fuel Pump:

- The fuel pump is usually located inside the fuel tank.

- On the Sequoia, it's accessed from beneath the vehicle.

3. Raise the Vehicle:

- Use a jack and jack stands to safely lift the rear of the vehicle, providing access to the fuel tank.

4. Remove the Fuel Pump Access Cover:

- Locate the fuel pump access cover on the bottom of the fuel tank.

- Remove the screws or bolts securing the access cover.

5. Disconnect the Fuel Lines:

- Use the fuel line disconnect tool to carefully detach the fuel lines from the fuel pump.

- Be cautious, as fuel may spill. Have a rag handy to catch drips.

6. Remove the Fuel Pressure Regulator:

- It is usually located on top of the fuel pump assembly.

- Disconnect any vacuum lines and the electrical connector attached to it.

- Remove the bolts holding the fuel pressure regulator in place.

- Lift the fuel pump assembly out carefully, making sure not to damage any components.

7. Replace the Fuel Pump:

- Remove the old fuel pump module from the assembly by detaching the electrical connector and removing any securing screws or bolts.

- Install the replacement fuel pump into the assembly, reversing the steps you took for removal.

8. Replace the Fuel Filter (optional):

- If the fuel pump came with a new fuel filter, now might be a good time to replace the fuel filter.

- The filter is usually located in the fuel pump assembly.

9. Reinstall the Fuel Pressure Regulator:

- Reinstall the fuel pressure regulator by reversing the steps you took to remove it.

10. Reconnect the Fuel Lines:

- Reattach the fuel lines to the fuel pump carefully.

- Secure them using the fuel line disconnect tool.

11. Reinstall the Fuel Pump Access Cover:

- Replace the access cover and secure it using the screws or bolts you removed earlier.

12. Lower the Vehicle:

- Carefully lower your vehicle back to the ground using the jack and jack stands.

13. Reconnect Battery Terminal:

- Reconnect the negative terminal of the vehicle's battery.

14. Test the Fuel System:

- Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position (without starting the engine) to allow fuel to pressurize the system.

- If no leaks are detected, start the vehicle and check for proper fuel delivery.

15. Road Test:

- Take the vehicle for a short drive to ensure it runs smoothly and the fuel system is functioning correctly.

Note: It is recommended to prime the fuel system before starting the engine if you've run the tank to empty or are replacing major fuel system components. This ensures that there's fuel in the fuel lines before attempting to start the vehicle.

Always consult your vehicle's service manual for specific instructions related to your Toyota Sequoia model and year. If you're not confident in performing this task, it's best to seek assistance from a certified mechanic.
