How do you change water pump on 1999 Nissan Sentra 1.6 L engine?

Here are the steps to change the water pump on a 1999 Nissan Sentra 1.6 L engine:

1. Gather the necessary tools and parts, including a new water pump, a new thermostat, a new water pump gasket, a new thermostat gasket, a coolant drain pan, a funnel, a set of wrenches, a ratchet, a socket set, and a screwdriver.

2. Park your car on a level surface and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down completely.

3. Open the hood of your car and remove the negative battery terminal to disconnect the power supply.

4. Locate the drain plug on the bottom of the radiator and place the coolant drain pan underneath it. Open the drain plug and allow all of the coolant to drain out.

5. Remove the upper radiator hose by loosening the hose clamp and pulling the hose off of the radiator.

6. Remove the lower radiator hose by loosening the hose clamp and pulling the hose off of the water pump.

7. Remove the thermostat housing bolts and remove the thermostat housing. Be careful not to spill any coolant that may be inside the housing.

8. Remove the water pump bolts and remove the water pump. Be careful not to drop the bolts into the engine block.

9. Clean the water pump mounting surface on the engine block and apply a thin layer of sealant to it.

10. Install the new water pump gasket and then install the new water pump. Tighten the water pump bolts securely.

11. Install the new thermostat gasket and then install the thermostat. Tighten the thermostat housing bolts securely.

12. Reconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses and tighten the hose clamps.

13. Refill the radiator with coolant and add a 50/50 mixture of coolant and water until it reaches the "Full" mark.

14. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.

15. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks and make sure that the temperature gauge is reading normal.

16. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down. Recheck the coolant level and add more if necessary.

Your water pump should now be replaced and your car should be running properly.
