Where to put the blow off valve?

There are two common locations to install a blow-off valve (BOV):

1) On the cold side: This method involves putting the BOV somewhere between the intercooler and the throttle body. This location is commonly used in stock vehicles and some aftermarket setups. By placing the BOV on the cold side, it helps reduce intercooler piping pressure spikes and can improve throttle response and reduce turbocharger compressor surge.

2)On the hot side: This method refers to installing the BOV between the turbocharger outlet and the intercooler inlet. This location is mostly found in high-performance and racing setups. By placing the BOV on the hot side, it effectively releases the excess boost pressure quickly, preventing compressor surge and allowing the turbocharger to spool down faster, resulting in improved performance.

The choice between cold-side or hot-side installation depends on the specific vehicle, engine setup, and performance goals. Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages, so consulting a professional or doing research on what's best for your particular application is recommended.
