* A 10mm socket wrench
* A ratchet
* A flat-blade screwdriver
* A tension gauge
Instructions:
1. Locate the timing belt tensioner. On the Honda Accord, it is located on the front of the engine, just below the water pump.
2. Loosen the tensioner bolt. Use the 10mm socket wrench and ratchet to loosen the tensioner bolt. Do not remove the bolt completely.
3. Pry the tensioner away from the belt. Use the flat-blade screwdriver to pry the tensioner away from the belt. This will release the tension on the belt.
4. Insert the tension gauge between the belt and the tensioner. The tension gauge should be inserted with the teeth facing the tensioner.
5. Tighten the tensioner bolt until the tension gauge reads 25-28 ft-lbs. Use the 10mm socket wrench and ratchet to tighten the tensioner bolt until the tension gauge reads 25-28 ft-lbs.
6. Recheck the tension after a few minutes. The tension should still be 25-28 ft-lbs. If it is not, readjust the tensioner bolt.
