Where do you check the transmission fluid on a 1994 Mazda Miata?

The 1994 Mazda Miata does not have a transmission fluid dipstick. Instead, the transmission fluid level is checked via the transmission fill plug located on the driver's side of the transmission. The fill plug is located on the side of the transmission, above the axle.
