1. Gather the following tools and materials:
a. New transmission fluid of the correct type (check your owner's manual for the specific type required).
b. A funnel
c. A drain pan
d. A new transmission filter (if applicable)
e. A 7-millimeter Allen wrench
2. Prepare the vehicle:
a. Park the vehicle on a level surface.
b. Apply the parking brake.
c. Allow the engine to cool down completely.
3. Locate the transmission fluid drain plug:
a. The transmission fluid drain plug is located on the bottom of the transmission pan, usually near the front of the vehicle.
4. Place the drain pan under the drain plug:
a. Position the drain pan directly beneath the drain plug to catch the transmission fluid.
5. Loosen the transmission drain plug:
a. Use the 7-millimeter Allen wrench to loosen the transmission drain plug.
b. Be careful not to drop the bolt into the drain pan.
6. Allow the transmission fluid to drain:
a. Allow the transmission fluid to drain completely.
b. This may take a few minutes.
7. Replace the transmission drain plug:
a. Once all the fluid has drained, reinsert the transmission drain plug and tighten it securely.
8. Remove the transmission fluid pan (if applicable):
a. Some models of Mazda Bongo may require the transmission fluid pan to be removed to access the filter.
b. If this is the case, consult your owner's manual for instructions on removing the transmission fluid pan.
9. Replace the transmission filter (if applicable):
a. If your Mazda Bongo has a transmission filter, remove the old filter and install a new one.
b. Consult your owner's manual for instructions on replacing the transmission filter.
10. Reinstall the transmission fluid pan (if applicable):
a. If you removed the transmission fluid pan, reinstall it and secure it properly.
11. Add new transmission fluid:
a. Use the funnel to add new transmission fluid to the transmission.
b. Add the amount of fluid specified in your owner's manual.
12. Check the transmission fluid level:
a. Follow the instructions in your owner's manual to check the transmission fluid level.
b. Make sure the fluid level is within the specified range.
13. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes:
a. This will circulate the new transmission fluid throughout the transmission.
14. Recheck the transmission fluid level and make any necessary adjustments.
