- New fuel pump and filter (if applicable)
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the vehicle
- Open the hood of your Plymouth Voyager and locate the fuel pump assembly. It is usually located under a black plastic cover on the passenger side of the engine compartment.
- Relieve the fuel system pressure.
- Disconnect the battery. This will prevent any sparks from igniting the fuel vapors.
Step 2: Remove the Fuel Pump Assembly
- Remove the black plastic cover from the fuel pump assembly.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
- Use a 5/16-inch socket wrench to remove the two bolts that hold the fuel pump in place.
- Remove the fuel pump assembly from the vehicle.
Step 3: Remove the Fuel Pump from the Assembly
- Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry open the fuel pump assembly.
- Remove the fuel pump from the assembly.
- Check the fuel filter. If it is clogged, replace it.
Step 4: Reassemble the Fuel Pump Assembly
- Insert the new fuel pump into the assembly.
- Replace the fuel filter (if applicable).
- Snap the fuel pump assembly back together.
Step 5: Reinstall the Fuel Pump Assembly
- Place the fuel pump assembly back into the vehicle.
- Secure the fuel pump with the two bolts that you removed earlier.
- Reconnect the electrical connector.
Step 6: Test the Fuel Pump
- Turn on the ignition.
- If the fuel pump is working properly, you will hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds.
Step 7: Replace the Fuel Pump Cover
- Replace the black plastic cover over the fuel pump.
- Reconnect the battery.
