First, apply a thin film of engine oil to the threads and mating surfaces of the cylinder head and cylinder block. This will help to ensure that the bolts are evenly tightened and that there is no metal-to-metal contact between the bolts and the block.
Step 1: Tighten the cylinder head bolts in sequence to 20 Nm.
Step 2: After the initial tightening, re-tighten the cylinder head bolts to the following:
For 0.8l engines: 65 Nm ± 5 Nm
For 1.0l engines: 70 Nm ± 5 Nm
Step 3: After the second tightening, turn the engine over 2-3 times to seat the piston rings. This will help to ensure that the rings are properly seated in their grooves.
Step 4: After turning the engine over, re-torque the cylinder head bolts once again to the same values specified above.
This will help to ensure that the cylinder head bolts are properly tightened and that there are no leaks.
