What do you when the automatic seat bealt is stuck and will not move on a Mazda mx3 1993?

1. Manually Move the Seat Belt: Locate the seat belt motor on the side of the seat. It's usually a small black or gray box with wires attached to it. With the ignition off, disconnect the motor. You may need to use a screwdriver or pliers to do this. Once the motor is disconnected, try to move the seat belt by hand. If it moves freely, the problem is likely with the motor or its connection. If it still won't move, there may be a problem with the seat belt mechanism.

2. Check Seat Belt Components: If the motor is connected, turn on the ignition and listen to see if the motor is functioning. Look for damaged or frayed seat belt components. Check for debris inside the seat belt track. Small items can get caught inside and prevent the seat belt from moving freely.

3. Replace the Seat Belt Motor: If the motor is damaged or isn't functioning, you'll need to replace it. You can find a replacement motor online or at a local auto parts store. If you're uncomfortable doing the repair yourself, you can take your car to a mechanic.

4. Clean and Lubricate the Mechanism: If you don't see anything blocking the seat belt, clean the tracks with a mild degreaser and a clean rag. Make sure the seat is all the way back to give you the most access. Lubricate the cleaned tracks with a silicone lubricant.

5. Reset the System: There are times when the seat belt system will get confused and start malfunctioning. For Mazda vehicles: With the ignition switch in the OFF mode and the seat belt fastened and then unbuckled, fasten and then unbuckle the seat belt eight consecutive times slowly and within a 10 second period. The indicator lamp in the instrument cluster (if equipped) will go on and off each time the buckle is operated within this ten-second period. You should hear the seat belt motor running.

On the ninth fastening, hold the seat belt buckle in the fastened position for approximately eight seconds.

You will hear a beep and the seat belt motor run. Once the seat belt warning indicator lamp stops flashing and turns off, the seat belt system is reset.

Try moving the seat belt to see if it works properly.

Consult with a professional mechanic or certified auto repair shop if the above steps don't resolve the issue or if you are not comfortable performing this task.
